The locking latch system is designed specifically for three-tier configuration. Adding additional tiers beyond three would exceed the structural limits of the base wheels and handle assembly, compromising stability and safety.
The 3-inch rubber wheels handle moderate outdoor terrain including gravel driveways, packed dirt, and asphalt with minor cracks. They roll smoothly over small obstacles like power cords and shop debris.
For deep mud, sand, or highly uneven ground, we recommend carrying the trolley by its side handles rather than wheeling it. The wheel tread is optimized for hard surfaces and may accumulate debris in soft soil that affects rolling performance until cleaned.
Each tier features two spring-loaded latches that snap closed and lock the lid in place. To open, you press the release buttons on both latches simultaneously. The latches also include metal loops that accept standard shackle padlocks with up to 8mm shackle diameter.
When tiers are stacked, the locking tabs between tiers automatically engage, but they do not accept padlocks. Only the individual lid latches have padlock provisions for securing contents.
The top tier measures 15.5 inches wide × 11.5 inches deep × 7 inches tall internally. The middle tier is 15.5 inches wide × 11.5 inches deep × 9 inches tall. The bottom tier provides 15.5 inches wide × 11.5 inches deep × 11 inches tall.
These measurements account for wall thickness and latch clearance. The removable trays in the top and middle tiers reduce usable depth by approximately 2 inches when installed, but you can remove them for storing taller items.
The trolley is dust-resistant and splash-resistant thanks to rubber gaskets around each lid, but it is not waterproof or submersion-rated. Light rain and incidental splashes from washing vehicles will not penetrate closed, latched tiers.
For outdoor storage, we recommend keeping the trolley covered or in a sheltered area. Prolonged exposure to standing water or heavy rain can seep through the gasket seals and latch openings, potentially damaging electronics or causing rust on uncoated metal tools.
The handle telescopes down completely flush with the bottom tier but is not designed for removal without tools. The wheels are permanently mounted into reinforced brackets as part of the bottom tier’s structural assembly.
For maximum space savings, collapse the handle fully and stack all three tiers vertically. This configuration measures 17 inches wide × 13 inches deep × 24 inches tall, small enough to fit on standard garage shelving or in service vehicle cargo areas.
